Big conglomerates have been buying up newspapers left and right. And, they simply spit out the same bunch of propaganda in all of them.

According to Wikipedia:

The Times also publishes four other editions under different titles (West County Times, East County Times, San Ramon Valley Times, and Valley Times) but essentially the same content, serving distinct communities within its circulation area. In 2007 the Contra Costa Times was merged with ANG Newspapers to form a new entity called Bay Area News Group-East Bay, which is in turn owned by MediaNews Group.

In California alone, Media News Group owns dozens of newspapers, plus dozens more in other states.

California (Northern)
Alameda Times-Star (Alameda)
The Argus (Fremont)
The Daily Review (Hayward)
Daily Democrat (Woodland)
Enterprise-Record (Chico)
Contra Costa Times (Contra Costa)
Ft Bragg Advocate News (Ft Bragg)
Humboldt Beacon
Lake County Record-Bee (Lakeport)
Marin Independent Journal (Marin) Mendocino Beacon (Mendocino)
Milpitas Post (Milpitas)
Monterey County Herald (Monterey)
Oakland Tribune (Oakland)
Pacifica Tribune (Pacifica)
Paradise Post (Paradise)
Oroville Mercury-Register (Oroville)
Red Bluff Daily News (Red Bluff)
Redwood Times (Humboldt)
San Jose Mercury News (San Jose)
San Mateo County Times
Santa Cruz Sentinel
Times-Standard (Eureka)
Times-Herald (Vallejo)
Tri-City Weekly
Tri-Valley Herald (Pleasanton)
The Ukiah Daily Journal
Vacaville Reporter (Vacaville)
Willits News (Willits)

California (Southern)
The Beach Reporter
Daily Breeze (Torrance)
Grunion Gazette / Downtown Gazette (Long Beach)
Impacto USA (Long Beach)
Inland Valley Daily Bulletin (Ontario)
LA.com (Los Angeles)
Daily News (Los Angeles)
More San Pedro
Pasadena Star-News
Peninsula News
Press-Telegram (Long Beach)
Redlands Daily Facts
San Gabriel Valley Tribune
The Sun (San Bernardino)
Whittier Daily News
Highlanders
¬ Azusa Herald Highlander
¬ Covina Press-Courier Highlander
¬ Diamond Bar Highlander
¬ Glendora, San Dimas / LaVerne Highlander
¬ Hacienda Heights Highlander
¬ La Puente, El Monte and Baldwin Park Highlander
¬ Rowland Heights / Walnut Highlander
¬ West Covina Highlander

Source: Media News Group

News reporting is no longer primarily done at a local level.San Ramonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18230453679344836393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8126534433825399733.post-66383011229346435792009-06-08T20:19:20.102-07:002009-06-08T20:19:20.102-07:00I don't read newspapers, including the Contra ...I don't read newspapers, including the Contra Costa Times, because they have no objectivity anymore. The Times is anti-police, pro-Obama and so filled with ads and re-prints of stories from other outlets that it's not worth reading. As for the Chronicle-it's been folding for years. It's basically a liberal propaganda rag. Newspapers died a long time ago and I'm certainly not losing any sleep over it. The Times will be next.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
